Centennial Covenant is turning 25!

On February 24, 1985, after about a year of initial gatherings, a "church charter" was signed -- that day by 34 adults, and over the next two years, by another 15.

Now, during nine weeks -- January 10 through March 7 -- we'll be looking back to give thanks and, even more, ahead to "embrace our journey with Jesus." All of us can participate in three primary ways:
FIRST, please set aside each of those nine Sunday mornings for our WORSHIP GATHERINGS as we praise God, hear video personal stories, watch dramas, and receive biblical teaching on God's callings for our ongoing journey. We'll consider practical ways this journey is above all "with Christ," and that it leads into transformation and God's reconciling peace and is shared together as his family alongside faith-building friends -- all within God's mission to our broken world. All our His Kids sessions will focus on the same themes, allowing families yet other times and ways to let God work. A "STORY-TREE" in the Welcome Center will be a place we can post short memories and praises that have been part of our growing up in Christ together.

On January 24, our special guest will be Donn Engebretson, Centennial's founding pastor (1984-1986) and now vice-president of our parent body and primary mission partner -- the Evangelical Covenant Church.
SECOND, you may participate in a MILESTONES GROUP of six to 15 others for seven sessions to explore all the more deeply our "Priority Callings" and to embrace this journey with Christ. Leaders have been equipped to facilitate the groups, and written guides have been prepared to help each person reflect and respond to God. You can participate in one of four forms of Milestones Groups:
  • 14 of our existing Life Groups will focus on Milestones for seven gatherings. Check with your group leader for details.
  • On Tuesday evenings, January 19-March 2, at least 2 or 3 groups will share a meal at 6 pm, take in some brief teaching and orientation from Chris Durkin, and then break into various groups for interaction. A modest donation will be requested for the meals. Childcare will be provided if needed.
  • Other seven-session Milestones Groups will also be formed on other evenings depending on interest, probably meeting in homes.
  • A Sunday morning Milestones Group will meet January 17-February 28, 9-10:30 am. Children's activities will be provided at 9 am before regular His Kids at 9:30.

Also, both of our Student Groups, Middle School J.A.M. and Sr. High EN FUEGO, will focus on the same themes as our adult groups over the seven sessions.

THIRD, please set aside the evening of March 7 for our MILESTONES BANQUET! We'll enjoy a free dinner, great music, and multi-media story-telling. Special children's activities will be provided. Our guest speaker will be Pastor John Wenrich who now leads Covenant ministries of revitalization. John is a passionate, dynamic and wise communicator whom God has already used to encourage and challenge many of our leaders.
